A quick way to calm your son down

~ 1st July 2004. · 22:37 CET · permanent link · printer friendly ~

There’s often a time when something comes to my mind and i’d like to open my code editor and ‘dive into mark’, but also at this very same time Luka (the son) gets extremely hungry and therefore anxious and kind of cranky…

Luka, kind of cranky

Well, i’m proud i found a way to make designer’s kid quiet for a few moments: prepare 1 whole egg, 1-2 dcl of baker’s flour, half teaspoon or less of salt, some chocolate (preferably Nutella), 2-3 dcl of milk and 2 dcl of water. Mix all ingredients, ’till you get a creamy fluid.

Use this to bake a few pancakes. When you’re done, put melted chocolate or Nutella on each pancake, roll them and call your precious to this delicious meal.

Additionaly, warm some milk, add a teaspoon or two of honey, and pour everything in his/her favorite cup… Perfect! Now go, go, go! You have exactly ten minutes to do some work!

  1. This is some good stuff. I just recently had a baby girl, and she is a cute one, but she definitely gets cranky. Unfortunately, she hasn’t gotten to the point of real food but when she does, I’m going to have to remember your advice.

Nice site by the way, I saw it from cssvault.com. I really dig this automatic preview that you have for posting comments.

  2. What’s more beautiful than your own kid? Be prepared, this is just a begining of good things coming your way : )

There’s also an entry explaining this preview script.

  3. Nice to know i’m not the only one who has got to capitulate under the young sibling. I’ll try and get some Nutella around so I can finally get some code done at home, and finish my son’s page. (should be done in spanish/korean).

On to the topic .. the only thing I could do to calm down my son is to give him my cell phone … he walks around, with it in the ear, talking to imaginary someones like a promptly executive.

    Nice blog Marko!

  4. Regarding cell phones—i’ve already lost one in a battle (&%#$"). When Luka smashed it, we went to a store to buy a new display, and when salesman saw it, he knew right away how did that happen’. There was no help for the device.

He’s currently playing with my old Nintendo, he just listens to a *plinky-plonky* sounds coming out of it.

Conclusion is—babies and cell phones are not for each other. : )

  5. I know the feeling of loss, yes.
We had to switch off the playstation so he no longer turns it on, and spends half a day opening and closing the CD bay. We also had to undust an old keyboard so he plays with it, instead of smashing mine while I’m working or surfing around. Still, he knows I’m fooling him, so after a short while, he jumps on me and my ‘real’ keyboard.
