How to Pull Readers into Your High-profile Web Site
The web site 24sata we made this winter is the perfect example of successful site management. They deliver fresh content on a daily basis and they also try to stay relevant. The printed edition and the web site are both targeted towards younger population. Their content ranges from political actualities to sports and entertainment. Articles are short and concise. When launching the site, we provided full color printed manual (90 pages!) for the web site management. And boy did that pay off! It’s really great seeing those guys using all features we built in the administration area. There are a few examples of common Flash teasers they created to pull readers in. We can’t be more proud!

The black with black is new black!

It’s always good to break main color palette (which is red/gold/white) by adding some bright shades of green. Full attention guaranteed. I’d personally go with fluorescent green.

Example of modern approach—breaking conventions by placing article title on the random position. Alignment is so last year’s snow.

Here, the article title is perfectly placed, so all most important parts of the image are visible. We have those cars in the front and traffic lights in the background of the scene. Oh, I’m so jealous at this guy’s talent.
Why not checking the web site, they add new cutting edge teasers all the time.
Update:
All above was my personal sarcastic view on the site management. Above teasers are far from adequate. They are ridiculous. Oh, and I forgot disclaimer—this article does not reflect opinion of my respected employers.

I visit the site every now and then. I’d prolly visit much more often if it wouldn’t take so much to load. Equally important, the errors in the articles aren’t exactly few and far between. Perhaps you could mention that to the editors :)
For instance, the recent Radiohead article has simply too much errors for such a short article. I’t simply annoying and makes me think twice before choosing where to look for news.

Apparently, you have done a great job with the site management, but unfortunately, several things must have gone wrong with 24sata - for example when ignoring the fact that currently, appr. 28% of all web users still use a screen resolution of 800x600.
(This must be valid criticism.)

@Jens: They know their visitors and ther’s very low percentage of small screens hitting the site.
