Pocket PC apps recommendations?

~ 11th July 2006. · 17:07 CET · permanent link · printer friendly ~

Fujitsu Siemens n500

The time has come for me to spend some time around the Pocket PC. I have already learned that the CSS media type theory (see W3C Mobile Web Initiative) is not what one should rely on when developing for full user agents range (sad, but true – the only way your web site knows a visitor came with a Pocket PC is by detecting its’ user agent string).

Nevertheless, I’d like to learn more about the general experience with these devices. If you have a story, please, do share.

Anyway, what are your favorite Pocket PC applications and why?

  1. If you have some typo of connection to the net, you should install:

    * Pocket Skype - I think you can guess what it is
    * Agile Messenger - a multi-protocol IM for PPCs
    * GPRS Monitor - if you use GPRS, this will monitor the amount of traffic you generate
    * WeatherPanel - gives you the latest scoop on the weather forecast :)

    Other apps:

    * Pocket Notepad
    * TCPMP - multimedia player
    * WisBar Advance - skining software for the PPC, use it and make Windows Pocket look decent!
    * Total Commander - a PPC clone of the PC file explorer
    * pPod - don’ have an iPod? This app is wierd but sometimes fun to have :)
    * pTravelAlarm - the best basic alarm application
    * skTools - various tools to keep your PPC healthy
    * SPB Full Screen Keyboard - the name speaks for itself

    * SPB Plus - a launcher
    * PocketBreeze - today screen plugin
    * ContactBreeze - today screen contact list plugin
    -> you should use either the “Breeze” series or products of SPB software because they have mostly the same functions, it’s just a manner of which of the two you find more fitting to your workflow…

    Games:
    * Warcraft for PPC
    * Resco Guardians Iron Tree

    // Ima tona *zanimljivih” stranica za skidanje PPC softwarea s neta, ako te zanima, mailaj ;) //
